Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has just signed Ayoze Perez for Leicester City.

According to BBC Sport, Rodgers spent £30 million on bringing in the Spanish attacking midfielder from Newcastle United.

Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic play in a similar position for Celtic and surely now the Hoops don’t have to worry about their old manager swooping for either player.

The Northern Irishman, who joined Leicester in February, was linked with signing both – and Kieran Tierney – back in May [Football Scotland].

But the reality is that it makes no sense for Rodgers to back for McGregor or Rogic after spending big – very big – on the former Magpies playmaker.

That isn’t to say that other clubs won’t come sniffing around, and Zenit are already linked with signing Rogic, but either player going to Leicester would hurt Celtic fans and, well, there’s a very small chance of that happening now.
