Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard has admitted that he’s been blown away by the atmosphere at Anfield.

Odegaard joined Arsenal in a £30 million permanent transfer last summer.

This is his first full season in the Premier League and the Norway international played the 4-0 drubbing away to Liverpool a little earlier in the campaign.

And the former Real Madrid starlet – who was linked with a transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s side last year – has admitted that of all the away grounds in the Premier League, Anfield has impressed him the most.

He told Arsenal’s official website: “But as for teams I have played against, I think Anfield has a very good atmosphere, they bring a lot of energy to their side, and of the places I’ve played here in England, that’s the one I’ve been most impressed, of places away from the Emirates.”

Fortress

Anfield is indeed something of a fortress, particularly on European nights.

Liverpool welcome Inter Milan to Merseyside for the second leg of a Champions League last-16 encounter next month.

And many Arsenal players – Odegaard included – will want that atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium.

The North Londoners haven’t kicked a ball in the Champions League since 2017 but Mikel Arteta’s outfit could potentially change that come next season.

At the moment in the Premier League, Arsenal are four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with three games in hand, which is a massive advantage.

But whether Odegaard and co can make that count, however, is a different question entirely.
