Before Liverpool were being heavily linked with moves for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho was the player most speculated about joining the Anfield club.
For much of 2020, Liverpool were reportedly interested in bringing the Borussia Dortmund winger to Merseyside.
In fact, Kicker in Germany reported last July that the England international would have preferred to join Jurgen Klopp’s side than any other Premier League team, amid rumours of Manchester United making a swoop at that time.
With the likes of Haaland and Mbappe probably unrealistic for the reigning Premier League champions due to their sky-high cost, Sancho to Liverpool is one rumour that could potentially crop up again during the summer, particularly seen as the German manager probably does need attacking reinforcements.
And a certain Fabio Borini, who joined the European giants under Brendan Rodgers back in 2012, has encouraged his former club to go out and sign the Manchester City youth product.
He told Caught Offside: “Looking at Liverpool’s competitors I think more depth in the attacking positions would do the team good. Jadon Sancho would be a great signing and it would be fun to steal him from Man United.”
According to The Times, Dortmund could accept a figure of around £86 million to sell the 21-year-old, who has 12 goals and 16 assists for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions this season.
