Ryan Edmondson has left Leeds United on loan already this summer, joining Aberdeen until January 2021.
That departure indicates – unsurprisingly – that opportunities for Leeds’ talented young players to play will be at a premium in the Premier League.
As much as working under Marcelo Bielsa is an incredible education for a youngster, sometimes players need regular games.
With that in mind, we’ve picked out three other Leeds youngsters who should seek a loan deal this summer…
Robbie Gotts
The Sun on Sunday (26/7; page 63) reported that Gotts could be set for a loan move to Huddersfield.
Carlos Corberan has just moved from Leeds – where he was Under 23 manager – to the Terriers.
That makes it understandable that he’d have an interest in the talented Gotts, and regular gametime in the Championship would be perfect.
Even more ideal would be working under Corberan, who knows Bielsa’s demands and how to prepare a young player to deal with them.
If that loan switch across Yorkshire came off, it would be great for the development of Gotts.

Leif Davis
According to Leeds Live, Davis could have moved on loan to Blackpool in January but the switch didn’t work out.
There is intense competition at left back, and it’s easy to see Davis shining as a rampaging full back in the Championship.
Because of its focus on energy, full back is a position where young players can make great stride if given regular gametime and that’s the stage Davis is at now.
He needs to play matches that matter, so a loan would be ideal.

Jordan Stevens
In April 2019, the Yorkshire Evening Post quoted Bielsa stating he was impressed with the ‘quality and speed’ of winger Stevens.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t translated into first team opportunities yet at Elland Road.
It’s tough to see Stevens forcing his way into Leeds’s Premier League attack, so a loan move could be the best course of action.
Leeds have a host of talented players in their youth ranks and the time has come for some of them to get a loan move to help them bridge the gap between age group football and the men’s game.
