The Premier League is where every player plying his trade in English football wants to test themselves.
Some may be new to the big time but others have unfinished business and West Brom’s players will get their shot in 2020/21 after earning automatic promotion.
We’ve picked out three players who may well have a point to prove after the Baggies returned to the top flight…
Charlie Austin
After netting 18 Premier League goals with QPR in 2014/15, Austin spent four top flight seasons with Southampton but failed to get double figures.
That form even earned him an England call-up in May 2015.
He got his mojo back in the second tier last time around and will be keen to show he can still hit the back of the net on a regular basis in the top flight.
Austin is not a player who lacks confidence and will back himself to deliver the goals to keep the Baggies up.
Sam Johnstone
Despite having come through at Manchester United, Johnstone is yet to play a Premier League game in his career.
Perhaps he will look at Dean Henderson, a fellow United academy graduate who was also a Premier League rookie last season for inspiration.
Henderson impressed with a newly-promoted side and is now being talked about as a potential England goalkeeper.
Johnstone has earned his stripes and will be keen to show he is a top flight stopper, having finally earned his crack at the big time.
Hal Robson-Kanu
Robson-Kanu has spent two seasons in the top flight with the Baggies, but only netted five goals from 50 appearances (Transfermarkt).
He will be eager to show he can do the business for the Baggies in the top flight third time around.
In 2012/13, he bagged a more respectable seven strikes in 25 games for Reading, which may give him hope ahead of the new campaign.
Having reversed his international retirement earlier this year, the Welshman may also have one eye on the European Championship.
Impressing in the Premier League would be a good way to catch Ryan Giggs’ eye.
