Promising Tottenham striker Troy Parrott has been loaned to fellow London club Millwall for the 2020/21 season.

He struggled to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s first team plans last term, making the temporary switch the right course of action.

In the wake of that deal, we’ve picked out three other players who should follow Parrott’s lead and get out on loan ahead of next season…

Oliver Skipp

The Evening Standard quoted Jose Mourinho in July stating the young midfielder wants a loan this summer.

Mourinho said he wanted Skipp to stay, but the midfielder needs to leave on a temporary basis to get games.

As much as Mourinho fawned over Skipp’s quality, it’s tough to see him getting regular matches in the Portuguese’s teams next season.

The former Chelsea boss prefers physical midfielders and a campaign in the Championship or the lower reaches of the Premier League should do more for Skipp than being a rotation option for Mourinho would.

Ryan Sessegnon

Sessegnon is reportedly (Guardian) wanted on loan by Ajax, which would be a sensational opportunity for him to further his football education.

If he doesn’t move, he looks set for a season battling Dennis Cerkin to be Ben Davies’s deputy.

That’s quite a slip down from where he was last summer; one of the most coveted talents in the country.

He needs regular gametime to remind Tottenham of his quality. If that came along with learning at a club where their coaching is second to none and he could get the opportunity to play abroad, all the better.

Jack Roles

Roles spent 2019/20 on loan at Cambridge in League 2 and impressed, netting five goals in 23 league matches.

Now the time has come for him to step up from the fourth tier. Ideally, he would get the chance to test himself in the Championship next term.

That would give Tottenham a better idea of his quality and development; a manager as cynical as Mourinho isn’t likely to consider performances in League 2 particularly relevant to assessing aptitude for his squad.

Roles needs to be in the same division as Parrott by the time 2020/21 kicks off, to take that next step in his development.
