Eddie Howe is a leading candidate to be the next Derby County manager according to The Mirror.
The former Bournemouth boss is being considered as an option after the sacking of Philip Cocu, and with the Rams set to be taken over very soon, Howe could be the big-money appointment County need.
The next Derby County manager was always going to have a big job on their hands, with the Rams sitting rock bottom of the Championship, and Howe could be the perfect man to steady the ship, despite Stan Collymore suggesting otherwise.
The 42-year-old famously took Bournemouth from League Two to the Premier League, and despite being one of the smallest teams in the division, he managed to keep them there for five seasons.
Howe has previously been linked to bigger jobs, but his standing in the game has taken something of a hit after relegation with Bournemouth last season, and becoming the next Derby County manager could be the perfect role for him, considering the big plans County’s new owners could have for the club.
Howe was once touted as a future England manager, so the fact that he could soon be in the dugout at Pride Park is certainly very exciting.
Whether or not he takes the job remains to be seen, John Terry is also being considered for the role, but with Howe having the stronger managerial pedigree, you’d have to say he’s the better option.
The former Cherries boss certainly has the acumen to be a success at County, he is a former LMA Manager of the Year winner, and during his tenure in the Premier League, he won their Manager of the Month award three times.
