Liverpool midfielder Emre Can was handed a start against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, and put in a performance which only enhanced his reputation
The former Bayern Leverkusen star was almost immaculate in terms of keeping possession, in the 1-0 defeat, recording a 92% pass completion rate.
He was unlucky to be replaced on 74 minutes, with Brendan Rodgers making a tactical change to bring on Coutinho as the Reds chased the game.

Can won all three of his attempted tackles, and recovered possession for Liverpool on eight occasions.
It was only the second Champions League appearance the 20-year-old summer signing had made, and arguably the biggest occasion of his career to date.
He did not look intimidated, and showed why he is so highly rated in both Merseyside and Germany, and deserving of more opportunities – Can has played only 186 minutes of Premier League football all season with only two starts.
Filling in for Steven Gerrard placed pressure on his shoulders and offensively he is not in the same conversation, but it’s fair to suggest he is a better option defensively than the former England captain right now, in the role he is now expected to perform.
