Leeds United left-back Tom Pearce is attracting interest from Barnsley, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.
Leeds are said to be open to offers for the 21-year-old.
Here is a look at three reasons why Leeds to Barnsley switch would be best for Pearce.
Fresh start
To describe Pearce’s chances as slim would be generous. He is nowhere in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.
Barry Douglas is clear first choice at left-back, while youngster Clarke Oduor is the latest to make a case.
Bielsa has shown he would rather play Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi or Ezgjan Alioski in the position than give Pearce opportunities.
It just makes no sense for Pearce to stick around.
Good level
Pearce’s last loan spell was in League One. If he can land a move to Championship side Barnsley it would be an ideal scenario.
Pearce has represented England at under-20 level. Staying in the Championship will at least ensure he does not get forgotten about.
He will have a point to prove and can do so directly at Leeds’ expense, showing them they were wrong to discard him. A sideways step is preferable to stepping down.

The quick trip across Yorkshire will hold no surprises for the Leeds youngster.
Pearce would join Mallik Wilks and Aapo Halme, who have both made transfers from Leeds to Barnsley this summer.
He will also link up with his former Leeds youth teammate Alex Mowatt.
