Everton are interested in signing of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to the Telegraph.
In this era of buying players with potential and sell-on value, some may look at his age and injury record with concern.
There’s none of that here though, and we’ve got three reasons why the Colombian international could be a game-changer at Goodison Park.
He’s shone under Ancelotti before
Carlo Ancelotti has managed Rodriguez at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich before.
In those 32 league games, Rodriguez was involved in 28 goals – 14 scored himself and 14 assists.
James is a quality player who has just lost his way somewhat in recent years but Ancelotti clearly knows how to get the most of out him.
Fitness permitting, he would hope to repeat the trick at Everton.

Change of transfer approach
So far, Everton’s riches haven’t resulted in an effective transfer policy.
All that’s happened is they’re paying premium prices for players who aren’t premium class.
The arrival of Ancelotti was supposed to change all that and attracting a genuine world star like James would be a sensational start.
It is this calibre of player Everton need to make the most of their finances and begin to close that gap on the teams above them.

Talismanic presence
Just as Ancelotti’s presence galvanised Everton, Rodriguez should do the same.
He is the type of player who can do what Bruno Fernandes did at Manchester United, in terms of raising the level of the players around him.
Rodriguez is a player to build around and the kind of qualit addition Ancelotti is used to working with.
Between them, the pair could change the fortunes of Everton next term.
