A look at three Rangers players who benefit from Graeme Murty’s Ibrox exit.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers dispensed with the services of manager Graeme Murty yesterday, putting the coach out of his misery.

Murty’s fate appeared to be already decided at Ibrox after Rangers’ 4-0 and 5-0 hammerings by rivals Celtic.

Rangers still have games to play this season and on the pitch there are players who can benefit from Murty’s dismissal.

Here is a look at three winners from Murty’s sacking…

Michael O’Halloran

O’Halloran was recalled from St Johnstone after an impressive loan spell earlier this season.

He must wonder why Rangers even bothered.

The winger scored five goals in 16 games on loan but has not been selected for a single league game under Murty since his Rangers return.

The manager’s exit provides O’Halloran with a fresh start.

Sean Goss

Loanee Sean Goss began at Rangers with a flourish since his January move from QPR and fans were desperate for him to join permanently.

He disappointed in March’s 3-2 loss to Celtic and has been out of favour since, overlooked for the two latest Old Firm games.

Murty’s exit may be the catalyst for Goss to get back into Rangers’ starting line up and prove he deserves a permanent contract.

Bruno Alves

Bruno Alves of Rangers arrives at the stadium prior to the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Bruno Alves was signed for big games and to inspire Rangers to attain their former heights.

The Portugal international’s experience was wasted on the bench at Hampden in the semi-final and it very much seemed that Murty simply did not fancy him.

Injury kept him out this past weekend, but he is another who will benefit from a fresh start and a coach who believes in him.
