Leeds United have already wrapped up their first January signing, with Yosuke Ideguchi agreeing a deal to join.

BBC Sport report Leeds have agreed a fee with Gamba Osaka, although he is expected to head out on loan until the end of the season due to a work permit issue.

The signing is a statement of early intent from the Whites, with more players in contention to join.

Here is a look at three players they could target to follow Ideguchi…

Tobias Figueiredo

Leeds are keen on signing the Sporting Club de Portugal centre-back, according to newspaper A Bola.

He would be more of a long-term solution in defence than loanee Matthew Pennington, who will not be at the club beyond this season.

Figueiredo, 23, is a former teammate of Hadi Sacko and has represented Portugal at under-21 level.

Josh Brownhill

Leeds are among the clubs weighing up a move for Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill, according to Teamtalk.

Brownhill has three goals and two assists this season, and could be a replacement for out of favour Mateusz Klich.

Counting against him however is Ideguchi’s impending arrival, which could see Leeds decide they have enough options in midfield beyond this season.

George Hirst

Sheffield Wednesday contract rebel George Hirst is a long term target for Leeds, with The Mail reporting the Owls turned down an enquiry from the Whites in the summer.

Hirst has refused to sign a new deal at Hillsborough and the club now face up to the prospect of losing him when his present contract expires in the summer.

Leeds are free to negotiate with him from January on a pre-contract agreement which would see him join them in July, although Wednesday would be owed a fee via tribunal.
