Duncan Watmore will play no further part in Sunderland’s season.
Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury, according to BBC Sport.
The 22-year-old’s importance to the Sunderland side has been underlined by the fact that he has played a part in every single one of their 14 Premier League games so far this season.
David Moyes will surely move for a replacement for Watmore in the January transfer window, but what options should the Scotsman consider?
Here are three viable options for the Wearsiders to potentially pursue:
Memphis Depay:

The Dutchman has endured a torrid start to his Manchester United career after making the £25 million move to Old Trafford in 2015.
He is quite clearly not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans, after making just one start in all competitions so far this season since the Portuguese’s arrival in the summer.
A loan move for the 22-year-old would make sense for all parties concerned.
Depay would certainly have a pint to prove, and given the platform that would enable him to showcase his skills, he would surely me a major asset to Sunderland.
Jefferson Farfan:

The Peru international is available on a free transfer following his release from Al Jazira in October.
The 32-year-old forged a fearsome reputation during his seven-year-spell with Schalke, and still has a lot to offer at the top level, despite his reported behavioural issues.
He can play on either flank, or directly behind the main striker, and would provide the Black Cats with an added threat in forward areas.
Aaron Lennon:
The Everton winger has made just two Premier League starts for the Toffees since Ronald Koeman was appointed manager in the summer.
At 29-years-old, he still has plenty of quality, and despite losing some of his blistering pace, he would still inject a much needed sense of directness into the Sunderland team.
Whether or not Koeman would be open to allowing Lennon to leave in the wake of Yannick Bolasie’s season-ending injury is debatable, but the Black Cats could enquire about the possibility of a potential deal nevertheless.
