There aren’t many better places for a young player to be coming through than Liverpool right now.

Jurgen Klopp’s emphasis on youth development is ideal for the Reds’ promising youngsters.

That doesn’t change the fact that some of them could do with a season away from Anfield on loan in order to get the first team senior football they simply won’t get on Merseyside.

We’ve picked out three promising prospects who could do with exactly that in 2020/21.

Paul Glatzel

Glatzel is a striker with huge potential, whose career was set back by a knee injury in July 2019.

He stayed at Liverpool to complete his recovery, but now 2020/21 needs to be the season he plays regularly.

For a young striker, there’s a big difference between banging in the goals at youth level and doing the business in men’s football when the result really matters.

That’s the next step a fully fit Glatzel has to learn.

Yasser Larouci

Left-back Larouci has had first team exposure, but the arrival of Kostas Tsmiskas this summer looks set to limit his chances in 2020/21.

He is ready for a year in the Championship, dealing with senior wingers who can produce end product.

That would be the next step in his development, and there should be no shortage of suitors because he has caught the eye when he’s played for Liverpool.

Caoimhin Kelleher

With Alisson and Adrian ahead of him, Kelleher needs a loan deal where he plays every week.

Learning from one of the world’s best goalkeepers is one thing, but the young Irish stopper needs to go out and learn from his mistakes playing every week.

That’s how you find out what a young player is made of, especially between the sticks where every error is magnified.

Loan deals can be invaluable for goalkeepers to actually showcase what they can do rather than sitting on the bench and playing age group football.
