Jon Flanagan, Danny Ings and Lazar Markovic the forgotten Liverpool players that could be great signings for Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Town have wasted no time in preparing for life in the Premier League, with Tom Ince their fourth permanent signing already this summer.

Manager David Wagner utilised his connections with Liverpool – and more specifically his friendship with manager Jurgen Klopp – to bring Danny Ward to the John Smith’s Stadium last season.

While Wagner has admitted a repeat of that deal is unlikely, here are three other Reds stars that the German could potentially sign for the Terriers.

Jon Flanagan

Once a key player at the club under Brendan Rodgers, Flanagan has fallen behind Nathaniel Clyne and more recently, Trent Alexander-Arnold, in the pecking order.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Burnley, where his opportunities were limited, but with the ability to play at right and left-back he could be a useful addition to Wagner’s squad.

Danny Ings

An injury-ravaged two years at Anfield has seen Ings make just 11 appearances for the Merseysiders, scoring three goals, and he was linked with a move to Newcastle United last month.

Still only 24, the striker is set to return from knee surgery and although little has been seen of him for some time, 11 Premier League strikes for the Clarets in 2014/15 still makes him worth a punt for Huddersfield.

The winger is a strange case, with Markovic sometimes showing glimpses of pure class that clearly convinced Liverpool to pay £20m to Benfica in 2014 (BBC), while other times he seems completely ineffectual.

That said, a regular run in the Hull City team last term while on loan suggests the 23-year-old does still have something to offer in the English top flight; just perhaps not for the Reds.
