Valencia have confirmed on Twitter that Spanish international striker Rodrigo has agreed a move to Leeds.
The move looks to represent a strong coup for Marcelo Bielsa’s newly-promoted side.
Given that the Argentine prefers to operate with a streamlined squad, Rodrigo’s arrival may well have implications for some existing Leeds men – and we’ve picked three out…
Patrick Bamford
Leeds are smashing their transfer record to bring in a striker. That’s bound to impact Bamford, the current undisputed first choice hitman.
One constant criticism of Bamford in the Championship was the amount of chances he missed.
The arrival of an international striker may well put a bit more pressure on him to sort that issue out.
Mind you, as the tweet above shows, it might not be that straight-forward.
Also, Bamford may start the season up front because he’s the man who knows Bielsa’s system inside out. Rodrigo may need time to adapt.
The Spaniard’s arrival does put pressure on the former Middlesbrough man to hit the ground running in the top flight though.

Jean-Kevin Augustin
It’s common knowledge that Augustin faces an uncertain future at Leeds.
As per TeamTalk – and other outlets – Leeds don’t want to pay the compulsory purchase fee agreed with RB Leipzig for the 23-year-old upon promotion.
The Frenchman just didn’t work out and it’s no surprise Leeds are trying to wriggle out of it.
Is it reading too much into the situation to say Leeds wouldn’t smash their club record in the current climate if they weren’t confident they could get away with paying the £18 million for Augustin? Perhaps.
His presence at the club is also a reminder of how mistakes can be made in the transfer market. Leeds fans will hope Rodrigo fares far, far better.

Pablo Hernandez
The Spaniard will be hoping to strike up a relationship with his fellow countryman, with a supply of assists for Leeds’ new hitman.
Hernandez may not play every week this season but he’s still got that touch of class.
What he needs is a deadly forward who can put away the chances he puts in front of him.
Hernandez may also be able to help Rodrigo settle in Leeds, although he is no stranger to the English game, having played for Bolton during his younger days.
