HITC Sport have been looking at some former Tottenham Hotspur players who fans might like to see back, including a Sunderland striker.

Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying yet another excellent season under Mauricio Pochettino, with the club one of Chelsea’s main challengers at the top of the league and hopeful of securing one of the four Champions League spots. Despite Chelsea’s big lead, which has now stretched to ten points, Spurs could still be in with a chance at the title if they carry on their form since the start of the year.
Pochettino’s attacking, fluid style of play has really revolutionised Spurs over the last few years, and it’s no surprise to see so many young players flourishing at the club. Solid at the back and lethal up front, Tottenham are now arguably one of the most dangerous sides in the league. However a host of their former players still doing the business elsewhere, HITC Sport is wondering which Spurs players fans would most like to see back at the club.

1. Gareth Bale

The former Spurs winger’s career at White Hart Lane didn’t get off to the greatest of starts, with Bale spending a lot of time playing as a left-back. However, under the guidance of Harry Redknapp, Gareth Bale transformed into one of the world’s most exciting young players, and eventually departed Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for Real Madrid. Since joining the Galacticos, Bale has scored an incredible 67 goals in 143 games, and is now regarded as one of the best players in the world. What Spurs fan wouldn’t like to see the Welsh dragon back at White Hart Lane?
2. Luka Modric

But Gareth Bale isn’t the only Spurs midfielder to swap White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu. Croatian midfielder Luka Modric joined Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 and quikcly became a fan favourite for his tricks, passing and long-distance goals. Joining Real Madrid in 2012, a year before Gareth Bale, Modric is now seen as a key part of Real Madrid’s sucess, tying all their elite players together with his intricit passes.
3. Jermain Defoe

Despite being 34-years-old, Jermain Defoe is still doing the business in the Premier League. Leading the line for struggling Sunderland, Defoe has the hopes of Black Cats fans firmly on his shoulders, as the club try desperately to avoid relegation. Scoring 90 goals over two spells for Tottenham, and 36 goals so far for Sunderland, Jermain Defoe is one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League. With many Spurs fans thinking Harry Kane needs some more back-up, would Defoe do the job in a third spell at the club?
