Jose Mourinho has done a fairly good job of changing the mood around his Tottenham reign already this season.
Before the campaign kicked off, the Portuguese faced a grueling early season programme in charge of a club he had failed to coax significant improvement out of.
Now, on the back of the 6-1 thumping of Manchester United and a successful summer transfer window, the perception has changed.
It’s too early to say with any confidence that Mourinho will be an unqualified success at Spurs, but we’ve picked out three criticisms he has already answered.
Mourinho and Levy can work together
The relationship between Mourinho and Daniel Levy was under scrutiny from the start.
Mourinho has demanded big money wherever he’s gone, and often bought aging, experienced players for the here and now.
Levy is notoriously frugal and tends to buy players as investments for the future, with good sell-on value.
The evidence of the transfer window is that Mourinho’s ethos is winning out.
Levy failed to give Mauricio Pochettino sufficient backing but Mourinho can have no such complaints.
Mourinho has got a backup striker, he’s got Gareth Bale, he’s got improved full backs and more, even during a pandemic.
Levy and Mourinho might be a marriage of convenience, but their relationship is working so far.

Harry Kane is shining
Some observers felt Kane may struggle under Mourinho.
The England captain was close with Pochettino and got plenty of chances at the forefront of the Argentine’s attacking style.
Under Mourinho, Kane looks sharp again and has added assists to his game as well.
It’s eight goals and seven assists already for Kane, who looks set for a huge season if he can just stay fit.

Mourinho has got Spurs fans excited
There were concerns over Mourinho’s style of football when he was first appointed.
That said, many Spurs fans would have accepted some dull football if it secured a first major trophy since 2008.
In that win at Old Trafford, Spurs were exceptional and exciting.
With Bale still to come into the lineup, there are reasons to believe that good times can be ahead for Spurs this season.
The campaign has started in such a crazy way that Spurs should not put a limit on their ambitions, and at the moment, the club is united behind Mourinho.
