Liverpool have a decision to make over the future of Rhian Brewster this summer.

The highly-rated youngster impressed on loan at Swansea in the second half of last season, and perhaps a Premier League loan deal is the next stage in his progression.

There has been enough evidence in pre-season to indicate Brewster could contribute to Liverpool off the bench in 2020/21, but if Jurgen Klopp opts for a loan, we’ve picked out the three best potential destinations.

Sheffield United

The Blades were the surprise package in the Premier League last season but lacked a prolific striker.

Chris Wilder’s side play football the right way and Brewster would be expected to work to the same uncompromising standards in terms of intensity at Bramall Lane.

He should play most weeks, given Wilder’s aforementioned lack of a goalscorer, and there’s no point Liverpool loaning Brewster out to sit on another team’s bench.

This would be a really interesting switch.

Aston Villa

Dean Smith’s side were so reliant on Jack Grealish for attacking input last season and desperately need a reliable striker.

Playing for Villa may be a bit more of a slog than being at Sheffield United on the evidence of last season, but Brewster should get plenty of chances to play.

In Grealish, he would have a regular supply of chances and the pair could strike up a good relationship.

Liverpool may not want to throw Brewster into what could be another relegation battle, but playing for Villa would bring the pressure of leading the line for a big club with demanding fans.

Newcastle

Steve Bruce’s back foot style is different to Liverpool’s pressing approach, which means this isn’t an ideal match.

That said, Newcastle are as desperate as any team in the Premier League for a hitman who knows where the net is.

Going to Newcastle could be a huge opportunity for Brewster because he would be loved on Tyneside if he could get 10-15 goals next season.

Like at the other two clubs here, it would be a big opportunity to lead the line at a historic club, which brings pressure which should stand Brewster in good stead when he gets back to Liverpool.

That said, Klopp may well decide Brewster’s development is best served remaining at Anfield as a backup striker.
