Patryk Klimala has been encouraged to leave Celtic after being snubbed by Neil Lennon last night.
Lennon’s side were dumped out of the Champions League at the second round of qualifying by Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.
The Celtic manager raised eyebrows before the game when he used Ryan Christie as a lone striker, in the absence of Odsonne Edouard.
Thing is, Lennon had Klimala, a £3.5 million signing in January, and new boy Albian Ajeti on the bench.
Both of those are recognised strikers, whereas Christie is an attacking midfielder.
Ajeti hasn’t played much football over the past 12 months, but Klimala dazzled for the Bhoys during pre-season, and Tam McManus has claimed on Twitter that the 22-year-old – who didn’t even come off the bench last night – should hand in a transfer request.
The most worrying thing about last night is how toothless Celtic are without their go-to-guy Edouard.
If he were to leave Parkhead this summer – and speculation could intensify again after the Champions League exit – then Lennon’s side are in serious, serious trouble.
Celtic are going for 10 Premiership titles in a row come May and this is a clear sign that the Irish manager needs reinforcements – a lot more, even with Edouard.
