Sardar Azmoun showed just why Arsenal are said to be interested in his talents.
Earlier this week Arsenal were being linked with a move for Rubin Kazan playmaker Sardar Azmoun – or as he is better known, the ‘Iranian Messi’.
The 19-year-old was being linked with the Gunners in The Metro this week – with a reported bid of £2 million being readied for the talented teenager.
The former Sepahan starlet moved to Russia in 2013 after impressing for the Iranian youth teams – he has scored seven goals in six Under-17 appearances and 19 in 17 games for the Under-20’s – so yes, he certainly has some potential.
And today he grabbed a goal for his Russian outfit against FK Rostov.
He opened the scoring in the third minute with a lovely finish – taking a touch, turning and poking away a strike with his right foot.
Was it Messi-esque … you be the judge.
Unfortunately that was not enough for victory.
They lost the game 2-1 to the away side after goals from Timofei Kalachev and Jano Ananidze cancelled out the goal from this reported Arsenal target.
But keep a track on developments from Kazan – as this player is certainly a hot talent for the future.
