Back in January 2020, Tottenham agreed a significant deal when signing Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis for a fee of £27.2m.
At the time, the Argentina international seemed like an exciting addition.
Lo Celso had just scored 16 goals in the 2018/19 season for Real Betis, where he was among the most impressive midfielders in Europe.
However, things turned sour for the 25-year-old in north London, as he registered just one goal and three assists in 55 Premier League outings.
Now, Lo Celso has been completely embarrassed by one of Antonio Conte’s new boys – Dejan Kulusevski.
What’s the story?
Well, after he provided two assists in last night’s 5-0 thrashing of Everton, Kulusevski has put Lo Celso to shame.
The Sweden international has enjoyed an incredible start to life at Spurs, scoring two goals while recording three assists in his first six Premier League appearances.

You may have already realised that the £29m Kulusevski has bettered Lo Celso’s tally for Premier League goal involvements, in 49 fewer games.
In our view, that is pretty damning for Lo Celso, who Conte shipped out on loan to Villarreal in January.
Tottenham need more signings like Dejan Kulusevski
In our view, Fabio Paratici needs to make more signings like Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
The pair have made an immediate impact since arriving from Juventus, something Spurs fans haven’t really seen since the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama slotted in straight away.

For too long, Tottenham have made errors in the market, although plenty of encouragement should be taken from the January window.
Paratici identified Luis Diaz as a top target, and even after Liverpool ruined that deal, the Italian had Kulusevski as a backup target.
Hopefully, that is a sign of things to come from Spurs in the transfer market.
