Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante has decided to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun, and this will come as a blow to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Kante will sign a new contract with Chelsea and stay at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners beyond the end of the season.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the Blues in the summer of 2023.

However, the former Leicester City midfielder will put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the option of a third, according to the report.

And this will be disappointing to Liverpool and Arsenal.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are reported to be keen on securing the services of the £290,000-a-week (SalarySport) star.

FootMercato reported in October 2022 that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in Kante and are possible options for the 31-year-old central midfielder at the end of the season.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke in GiveMeSport earlier this month, Liverpool are interested in signing Kante on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

The reporter has said that the Reds are hoping to persuade the defensive midfielder to make the switch to Anfield.

However, it seems that Kante has decided to stay put at Chelsea and will not move to either Arsenal or Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
