Loris Benito wants to join a new club ‘as quickly as possible’ after leaving Bordeaux with the defender now training at Championship giants Nottingham Forest, speaking to BlueWin, via Girodans4Ever.

It looked for all the world that Max Lowe was the silver-bullet, cure-all solution to Forest’s left-back ailments.

Imagine the disappointment, then, when the Sheffield United loanee was ruled out for two months after picking up an injury during the recent goalless draw with Luton Town.

Back to square one.

Midfielder Jack Colback and the previously-unwanted Gaetan Bong have been forced to fill in during Lowe’s absence.

With the Nottingham Post reporting that 29-year-old Benito has been training with the two-time European champions this week, it seems that Forest are looking to a short-term quick-fix.

Benito, a 13-time Switzerland international, is a free-agent after terminating his Bordeaux contract back in September.

Is Loris Benito joining Nottingham Forest?

“There were discussions that I couldn’t live with,” says the former Benfica and Young Boys ace when asked why his time at the Ligue 1 outfit came to a sudden end.

“I didn’t want to go through this anymore and that’s why I said I wanted to terminate my contract. I have my values.”

Benito didn’t go into detail but those cryptic comments certainly don’t reflect well on a Girodans side who have endured their fair share of problems on and off the pitch of late.

“I have to get back on my feet somewhere as quickly as possible, in view of the World Cup in Qatar (next year),” Benito adds.

“I am in a privileged position to be able to make such a decision. And I am in good faith and confident that something new is going to happen.”

Nottingham Forest are also looking to bring in Hearts and Scotland centre-back John Souttar in the January transfer window with a striker also high on Steve Cooper’s wishlist.

Potential deals for Rhian Brewster and Dwight Gayle, however, feel distinctly pie in the proverbial sky.
