29-year-old is now training with Leeds United but Farke reunion in doubt

Sam Byram is training with Leeds United but a permanent return to Elland Road seemingly isn’t in the plans.

Leeds United are allowing Sam Byram to train with the club even if a reunion with Daniel Farke is unlikely.

That is according to Leeds Live, who claim that Byram is indeed training with Leeds at the moment.

However, Byram isn’t considered to be a trialist that Leeds are considering signing this summer.

Byram is understood to just be training at Thorp Arch in order to get himself fit for a move elsewhere this summer.

The 29-year-old allegedly isn’t seen as a potential Leeds signing at the moment with the Whites just doing their old player a favour.

Byram came up through the Leeds ranks and made 143 appearances before being sold to West Ham United in 2016.

Now released by Norwich City, Byram is a free agent and looking to find himself a new club this summer.

Byram not only has a connection with Leeds but also with new Whites boss Daniel Farke.

Farke signed Byram for Norwich in the summer of 2019 as they returned to the Premier League.

The former Leeds right back even admitted that Farke was the reason he wanted to join Norwich in the first place, because of his style of play.

Byram only raged 20 appearances under Farke though as he failed to nail down a starting role at Carrow Road.

The German is understood to still have a good relationship with Byram though, which has paved the way for this training stint.

Leeds have just allowed a right back to leave the club with Rasmus Kristensen completing a move to Roma.

The Whites already have Luke Ayling whilst Cody Drameh is back at Elland Road upon the end of his Luton Town loan spell.

That means Leeds aren’t exactly desperate for a right back at the moment, which is playing into their stance on not targeting a deal for Byram.

The only way in which we can see Leeds moving for another right back is if Drameh ends up leaving the club on a permanent basis.

Byram has played at left back too but surely Leeds are better off going for a natural left-footer there.

This really does seem like Leeds just doing Byram a favoured a deal just isn’t in the plans right now.
