Tom Rogic has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Championship side West Brom after being released by Celtic in the summer – and took to Instagram, prompting reaction from Scott Brown and Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain.

Rogic, 29, was released by Celtic in the summer despite clocking up 50 appearances in all competitions last term. He had a hand in 16 goals. But it was not enough to earn a new deal and Celtic decided to say goodbye, releasing Rogic.

Since then, the 51-time Australia international has been unable to find a new club. However, ahead of the World Cup, Rogic has now found himself a new home. It is with under-pressure Baggies boss Steve Bruce, in England’s second tier.

He will be available for West Brom’s clash against bitter rivals Birmingham City on Wednesday night. Rogic took to Instagram to underline his delight at signing a contract at West Brom, who will be hoping he helps improve their form.

It is a stunning signing for West Brom. While Rogic might be somewhat lightweight, and a bit injury prone, the Australian is wonderful technically. He will bring a huge amount of creativity to a West Brom side struggling for goals.

The Baggies have drawn six of their eight Championship matches, winning and losing the other two. Scoring only 12 goals in that time, Rogic will certainly improve their efficiency in the final third. Playing in Scotland will help.

Celtic legend Brown, now Fleetwood Town manager, has reacted to his post with a couple of emojis. Meanwhile, current Celtic back-up goalkeeper Bain described the left-footed star as a “wizard” in response to his post.
