West Ham fans will have enjoyed watching Sunderland hammer Millwall by a 3-0 scoreline in the Championship earlier today.

Goals from Amad Diallo and Ellis Simms sandwiched an effort from Alex Pritchard – who supports West Ham – and the London Stadium faithful will have enjoyed seeing what the 29-year-old did after putting Sunderland 2-0 up.

What’s the story?

Well, Pritchard – who spent time in West Ham’s Academy as a youngster – rubbed Millwall’s noses in it after scoring Sunderland’s second goal at the Stadium of Light earlier today.

In celebration, the Sunderland No.21 sprinted away with his arms crossed to make the hammers gesture West Ham fans so often see, while looking up to the heavens.

West Ham and Millwall supporters rarely get a chance to experience their bitter rivalry nowadays given the vast difference in quality between the east Londoners and the south Londoners.

Therefore, West Ham fans will have loved to see Pritchard rub it in for the Lions.

Sunderland move up to tenth in the Championship after their eighth league win of the season, while Millwall remain seventh in England’s second tier.

Alex Pritchard loves West Ham

According to The Athletic, Pritchard used to have a season ticket at West Ham, attending games with his father.

Funnily enough, despite his love for the Irons, the attacking midfielder actually left West Ham’s Academy to join the youth setup at Tottenham, where injuries hampered his development.

Pritchard looked set to reach the very top at one stage, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid monitoring his displays as a youngster – according to the Metro.

Pritchard has since forged a bright career for himself outside of the Premier League, and despite never making a senior appearance for West Ham, he was able to have his moment against their bitter rivals Millwall today.
