Leeds United fans could be forgiven for forgetting all about Laurens De Bock.
Victor Orta signed the 28-year-old defender three-and-a-half years ago for £1.5 million.
But the Belgian left-back hasn’t kicked a ball for Leeds since March of 2018, illustrating why it’s easy to forget about him.
Marcelo Bielsa wasn’t even at Elland Road when De Bock last pulled on the shirt, which sums it up.
The player himself has re-joined Zulte Waregem on a season-long loan.
And De Bock – whose contract at Leeds expires next summer – has suggested that he doesn’t see himself going back to West Yorkshire.
He said via the club’s official website: “I came here to stay. I felt very good at Essevee last season and I am pleased that we can continue for another year together.”
This is the player’s fifth time leaving Elland Road on loan, having also had stints with Oostende, Sunderland and ADO Den Haag.
Interestingly, Leeds did actually need a left-back at the start of the week following the uncertainty regarding Ezgjan Alioski’s future.
But the White snapped up Junior Firpo from Barcelona on Tuesday afternoon.
De Bock made seven Championship appearances in his first couple of months as a Leeds player but, as mentioned, has not been seen since.
