When the door closes behind you on the way out of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, it isn’t too often that success awaits you.
Many have struggled after parting ways with the Argentine, except for Rangers forward Kemar Roofe – he has shone at Ibrox.
Look at the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell. And Pontus Jansson. And Jack Clarke. And Samu Saiz. The list is well populated, to say the least.
In Roofe’s case, he has been in electric form for Rangers this season with 18 goals in all competitions.
The 28-year-old left Elland Road in August 2019 for Anderlecht.
Now, he is a Scottish champion after helping Rangers lift their 55th title.

Roofe has also shone in Europe, scoring two Europa League goals this term including one from his own half!
While he has been one of few to find success post-Bielsa, others have struggled.
As aforesaid, Jansson is one of them. Yes, he may now be captain of what is a very good Brentford side, but they are still in the Championship.
He admitted to the Guardian that he wanted Premier League football. Now, if Brentford aren’t successful in the Play-Offs, he will most likely spend his 31st birthday as a Championship player.

Then there is Peacock-Farrell. The 24-year-old was lured in by the bright lights of the Premier League, but has barely played since joining Burnley.
He’s made just eight appearances since 2019.
Clarke also now finds himself on loan at Stoke, having made just three appearances for Tottenham’s first-team.
Evidently, if you decide to leave Bielsa’s Leeds, the grass isn’t always greener.
