Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a major coup in January.
According to The Standard, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is interested in engineering a reunion with Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.
The two have a chequered past but the Tottenham head coach is seemingly interested in bringing the 34-year-old to North London next month, with his contract expiring in the summer.
There’s already a number of connections between the Lilywhites and Real.
The Spanish giants loaned Gareth Bale to Mourinho’s side this past summer, at the same time as they sanctioned a £27 million exit for Sergio Reguilon.
On the field, Reguilon has been a revelation since arriving at Tottenham, but the Spain international has told AS that he’ll do his bit off the pitch too, amid speculation about Ramos.
He said, when asked if he’d advise the veteran defender to join the project in London: “Yes of course. In fact the other day I was talking to him.”
This might just be your typical paper talk, the like of which always happens when there’s a transfer window about to open.
The reality is that Ramos is a bonafide legend of the Madrid club, where he’s won five La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.
What a bit of experience he could add to a Tottenham side that hasn’t won a trophy since 2008, but it’s difficult to see him leaving the Spanish capital.
