Steven Bergwijn has rather surprisingly suggested that Serge Aurier is the most difficult player to come up against in Tottenham Hotspur training.

Aurier has failed to convince this term, with his performances at right-back often coming in for criticism.

The Ivorian has been erratic with his defending, and it is thought that Jose Mourinho could look to upgrade him in the summer transfer window.

However, Bergwijn has suggested that Aurier is actually very difficult to get past in Tottenham training.

“Most the time I play against Serge. You all know he’s fast and strong, so I think Serge,” the £27 million Dutch attacker (BBC Sport) said, when asked which Tottenham player is the most difficult to play against.

The positives comments come at a welcome time for Aurier, who has made headlines for the wrong reasons this week.

Aurier appears to have broken lockdown measures, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Tottenham are set to fine him two-weeks wages.

Aurier has made 33 appearances for Spurs in total this season, scoring on two occasions and claiming seven assists.
