The Netherlands international scored twice in helping his country to victory over Denmark in a friendly.
His second, in particular, was a thing of beauty.
The Tottenham winger cut inside his marker and expertly curled past Kasper Schmeichel with consumate ease.
And ultimately, that’s the reason he should leave Spurs.
The 24-year-old, who cost £27 million in 2020, is too good to be riding a bench in North London under Antonio Conte.
The Italian manager has only started him once in the Premier League since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in November.
Bergwijn did look a much happier player under the latter, with The Athletic reporting this year that he wasn’t happy about the Lilywhites sacking the Portuguese manager.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported in January that Conte didn’t have a long-term vision for Bergwijn at Tottenham.

That right there was the first season he should leave North London; the second came on Saturday night when he scored that goal, displaying the sort of ability that deserves regular football.
And sadly for him, he’s just never going to get it under Conte.
