A furious Gabriel Magalhaes has given his view of the red card that Arsenal team-mate David Luiz received in last night’s defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Mikel Arteta’s side was marred in controversy when the Gunners centre-back was sent off on the stroke of half time for fouling Willian Jose in the box, before Ruben Neves equalised from the spot.

But television replays indicated that the Arsenal defender was a touch unlucky after images suggested that the Wanderers attacker clipped Luiz’s knee, rather than it being an intentional tackle.

The North Londoners went on to concede early in the second half, before goalkeeper Bernd Leno was sent off for handling outside his area.

But the main talking point undeniably centered around the Arsenal defender and whether or not he deserved the red card – and team-mate Gabriel certainly doesn’t seem to think so.

The Brazilian, a £27 million summer signing, took to Instagram to post a number of angry emojis, coupled with the caption: “Is this for a red card?”

Hector Bellerin also seemed dissatisfied with referee Craig Pawson.

After the game, the Spain international posted a photo of the official and Wolves defender Conor Coady sharing a fist bump, with no caption added.

There is a sense of injustice for Arsenal, but they need to move on and focus on this weekend’s visit to Aston Villa.
