Okay so Takumi Minamino seriously has to leave Liverpool this summer.
Seriously.
The Japan international has only managed 86 minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool this season.
The 27-year-old has been reduced to featuring only in lesser competitions, particularly against lesser opposition.
But even now, it’s become apparent that Jurgen Klopp doesn’t trust him entirely and the former Salzburg winger needs to leave Anfield in June.
That’s because against Nottingham Forest tonight, a Championship club, the German manager refused to name Minamino in his starting lineup.
And remember, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah weren’t even in the travelling squad.
So for Minamino to still fail to make the first XI is a major slap in the face and a concrete sign that the Liverpool boss – who left him out of the squad for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea – just has very little trust in the player.
Loaning him to Southampton last January was a pretty massive indication that Klopp wasn’t convinced by the attacker.
And even though he returned to Liverpool for the 2021-22 campaign, well nothing much has changed.
And crucially, nothing ever will.
The writing is firmly on the wall for Minamino at Liverpool.
