Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah needs opportunities.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Josh Onomah lit up the under-20 World Cup this summer, playing a key role in helping England win the tournament.

Onomah thrived in a central midfield role, a position he has yet not been given a chance in for Tottenham’s first team.

The tournament demonstrated that he needs chances to show what he can do in his favoured role, but this is unlikely to happen if Tottenham’s proposed move for Adrien Silva is successful.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an offer for Adrien Silva worth £26 million.

Silva is an established Portuguese international who plays in central midfield.

The 28-year-old would demand a large share of first team opportunities, especially coming in at a high price.

Harry Winks’ chances would be affected by Silva’s arrival, but after his breakthrough last season he should be confident of still getting a platform to show what he can do.

Onomah is on far less sturdy ground.

His first team performances have been uninspiring, largely because he has been played out wide, but it hasn’t done him any favours.

If Silva signs then Onomah could be forced out on loan, which could work to his advantage if he makes the right move, but his prospect of breaking into Tottenham’s team in 2017/18 will be over.
