Kevin Hatchard has labelled AC Milan midfielder Charles De Ketelaere as ‘talented’ amid his transfer links with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

The European football expert has already spoken about how it will be a ‘major coup’ for Aston Villa if they landed Moussa Diaby’s signature, but he isn’t the only one who could join.

Charles De Ketelaere’s name has been thrown in the hat recently, with suggestions that they are around £4 million away from signing the AC Milan star for £26 million.

After producing strong performances for Club Brugge last season, who reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, De Ketelaere secured a move to AC Milan during the summer of 2022.

But he has struggled during the past 12 months, not starting on a regular basis for an AC Milan team that got booted out of the semi-finals of the Champions League to rivals Inter.

Nonetheless, European football commentator, Hatchard, feels that he needs to play on a ‘regular’ basis amid these links with Villa.

“Talented, but needs to play regularly,” said Hatchard. “Milan move hasn’t worked yet.”

Emery slowing building

Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans are already through the doors and expect more names to arrive.

One area of the pitch that will be upgraded and bulked up is the forward line, with every chance that, not only one wide player joins this summer, but two.

Either way, Emery is slowly starting to put his own fingerprints on this team as Villa prepare for a return to Europe.
