With January only around the corner, Arsenal have been linked to signing a new striker – and for good reason.
The Gunners are 15th in the Premier League table after only scoring 10 goals in 11 games so far this season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored once from open play in that competition, while Alexandre Lacazette has three under his belt.
When you’re go-to-guys for goals aren’t scoring, a new striker is essential.
But the one Arsenal reportedly want to sign isn’t all that prolific, it has to be said.
According to The Daily Mail, the North Londoners want Valencia’s number nine Maxi Gomez, who has a release clause of £125 million.
Problem is, Gomez has only managed 26 goals in his last 89 games for Valencia across all competitions.
And given the physical nature of the Premier League, is it unthinkable to believe that if he struggles in Spain, he’d definitely struggle in England?
Gomez is very unlikely to move for £125 million in spite of that clause, but the reality is that he could still cost a huge amount.
And going by his goals, he just isn’t good enough to fire Arsenal where they want to be.
If there’s any truth to it whatsoever, this should be a hard pass for the Emirates Stadium side.
