West Brom ace Chris Brunt became the second player after Ben Foster to commit his future to the Baggies, despite their impending relegation down to the Championship, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The Black Country outfit have really struggled this season, and currently sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, eight points adrift of safety with only three games remaining with which to save themselves.

Brunt is one of the few West Brom players who can hold his held up high after his performances this season, after chalking up eight assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, and the Northern Irishman will almost certainly be at the Hawthorns for at least one more season.

The 33-year-old activated a 12-month contract extension with the Baggies earlier this year, and he told the Express & Star how he plans to be a part of the team that tries to bounce straight back up next season:

“I’ve triggered next year as an option. I will be here next year unless anybody tells me otherwise, unless somebody comes in with drastic new ideas. Everybody has to accept their bit of responsibility for what’s gone on this year and I’m no different. I think if we can get the right blend and the right mix next year and have a good go it could be a positive season for us.”

If West Brom are to have any chance whatsoever of avoiding the drop this season, they will need to win their remaining three league games, and next up on the agenda is a trip to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on Saturday.
