Tottenham target Alex Scott has now revealed that he supports Spurs – and is “best mates” with one player already in N17.

The Bristol City No.7 – who Dean Jones believes has been the subject of contact from Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window – is making a real name for himself in the Championship.

Many have called Scott the new Jack Grealish due to his playing style and trademark low socks.

Now, the 19-year-old has shared some very interesting comments to the Guardian.

What’s the story?

Well, Scott admitted that he supports Spurs – suggesting he really could be about to join Tottenham – while Alfie Devine is one of his closest friends.

The teenager said: “Alfie Devine, who I now play with for England (Under-20s), is probably one of my closest mates. Being a Spurs fan I remember when he scored against Marine at 16.

“I was watching that with my dad at home and thinking: ‘He’s going to be the next one to come through at Spurs.’ Now I’m best mates with him at England level. That in itself is surreal for me.”

Surely – in that case – Scott would be keen on a move to Tottenham, given his love of Spurs and also his close relationship with academy graduate Devine.

Tottenham must sign Alex Scott

Spurs famously missed out on Jack Grealish back in 2018 after seeing a £25m bid rejected.

Now, a very similar player has emerged in Scott, who also carries a £25m price tag according to the aforementioned transfer expert Jones.

With Tottenham in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg someone they can certainly find an upgrade on, a move for Scott – who just won the Championship Young Player of the Year award – would make perfect sense.

Be sure to keep an eye on his situation across the summer, as a move could well materialise if Spurs submit a respectable bid.
