It’s absolutely one step forward and two backwards for a very inconsistent Tottenham Hotspur outfit right now.

Tottenham bounced back from successive home defeats by Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers to win 3-2 away to Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday evening.

That was considered a potential turning point for the Lilywhites under Italian manager Antonio Conte.

Then they went to Burnley at Turf Moor.

Victory would’ve propelled Conte’s side four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with two games in hand.

However, qualifying for the Champions League is not in Tottenham’s hands any longer after losing 1-0 away to the Clarets.

Ben Mee settled the contest with a header in the final quarter for what’s a horrible defeat for the North Londoners, in the context of Saturday night.

It was overall a very frustrating trip to Turf Moor for Tottenham, typifieid by Lucas Moura’s reaction after the game.

The Brazilian, a £25 million signing under Mauricio Pochettino, appeared to make a beeline for the tunnel directly after the final whistle, while the rest of the visiting players applauded the travelling supporters despite the result.

Conte’s outfit are now gearing up for a visit to Leeds United this weekend.

But even with Leeds losing 6-0 at Liverpool tonight, and very much in a relegation battle, victory is far from a foregone conclusion for a Spurs side that simply cannot put a run of victories together.
