Should Tottenham try again for Kelechi Iheanacho?

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is hoping to quit the club this January just six months after signing from Manchester City, The Sun report.

The Nigerian international has not provided a return on Leicester’s £25 million investment, and is well down the pecking order.

Iheanacho was wanted by several clubs in the summer, but only one of these can offer him Champions League action.

The Star reported how Spurs wanted to hijack Leicester’s move, but Manchester City preferred not want to sell to a rival and complicated negotiations with demands of a buy-back option.

These are no longer factors if Tottenham wish to renew their interest in the talented striker, who is just 21-years-old.

One stumbling block would be his £115,000 per week wages, and he would have to be convinced to take a pay cut to join Tottenham.

Another would be the prospect of continuing to play a back up role, behind Harry Kane, but Iheanacho offers something different to the England striker – and if he is optimistic, he could take the view that he could replace the Spurs star if Real Madrid prise him away.

Iheanacho has eight goals in 13 international games for Nigeria, and scored more than 20 goals for Manchester City in limited opportunities, mostly as a substitute.

If the forward is prepared to makes some financial sacrifices, Tottenham could be a very good move for him.
