Tottenham Hotspur spent the majority of January trying to sign Adama Traore.
For most of the winter transfer window, speculation was rife that Tottenham were going to sign the 25-year-old winger.
However, Adama wound up rejecting a transfer to Spurs in favour of joining Barcelona, where he began his career.
It was reported that the Spain international had reservations over Antonio Conte’s intention to convert him into a wing-back.
Unfortunately for the player though, it hasn’t been a brilliant return to Camp Nou thus far.
The powerful attacker started his first two outings at Barca but failed to impress and has seemingly already been dropped by manager Xavi.
The Spaniards hammered Valencia 4-1 at the Mestalla on Sunday afternoon and the former Tottenham target was omitted from the starting lineup.
In contrast, the player who the Lilywhites signed as an alternative to Adama, Dejan Kulusevski, looks like he could be an absolute steal by Conte and Fabio Paratici.
Kulusevski opened his account for the North Londoners in Saturday’s 3-2 victory at Manchester City.
It’s too early to say definitively whether the Juventus loanee is going to be a success story in the Premier League, while it’s also premature to suggest Adam – who will join in a £25 million permanent deal this summer [Marca] – will flop back in Spain.
However, if you offered any Tottenham supporter Adama now, instead of Kulusevski, none of them would accept it.
