Al Ittihad winger Jota could be given an escape route to Fenerbahce after missing out on a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur didn’t make a move for Al Ittihad winger Jota but he could still leave this week.

That is according to reports from Fanatik, who claim that Jota has been offered up to Fenerbahce.

Al Ittihad only signed Jota for £25million from Celtic in July but already seem to want rid of him.

Italian defender Luiz Felipe arrived from Real Betis last week and that means Jota could be the odd man out as Al Ittihad juggle their foreign players.

Fenerbahce have until Friday to make a decision, with the Turkish transfer window still open.

Tottenham considered late Jota move

Rumblings of Jota being made available by Al Ittihad have been going around for weeks now.

90Min reported in late August that Tottenham had been alerted to a possible deal to sign Jota before the transfer deadline.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou worked with Jota at Celtic and the pair enjoyed a superb stint together in Glasgow.

Jota racked up 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games under Postecoglou, becoming a real sensation for Celtic.

Postecoglou seemingly had the chance to take Jota on loan to Tottenham but, whilst Spurs considered the move, they went for Brennan Johnson instead.

Jota predicament shows the perils of Saudi Arabia moves

This is a sad state of affairs for Jota, who was frankly sensational in a Celtic shirt.

Jota not only brought flair but also real end product in the final third, looking like a winger who could provide serious magic on the ball.

The 24-year-old decided to make a big move to Saudi Arabia but already finds himself struggling for first-team action under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Maybe the rules on foreign players will change moving forward, but right now there is a danger for players like Jota.

The former Celtic man isn’t a household name whereas Al Ittihad are placing a keen focus on huge names like N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, Karim Benzema and top target Mohamed Salah.

Jota is a cautionary tale for young players who may be cast aside after joining Saudi Arabian clubs, who have no problems spending more and more money.

Jota is now an expensive substitute in Saudi Arabia and if Fenerbahce don’t take a punt, he could face a difficult few months in the Middle East.
