There has been a bit of talk about Davinson Sanchez being used as a makeweight in a deal to bring Jules Kounde to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the French centre-back is Spurs’ number one target during the transfer window.
Earlier this week it was reported that Tottenham had agreed a £30 million part-exchange deal with Sevilla for the big defender, with Sanchez potentially going in the other direction.
That report didn’t last long and The Athletic reiterated that Kounde himself was not interested in joining the North Londoners.
And although it remains to be seen what happens with that proposal, it does seem like the former Ajax stalwart is interested in a switch away from the Lilywhites.
Sanchez’s agent has told Gol Caracol that two of his clients – including the Tottenham player – are ‘working on some things’ in what reads like a transfer hint regarding a potential exit.
He said: “Dávinson and Duván [Zapata] are working on some things, looking to see if something comes. The two are calm where they are. They have a contract, if something better comes, they will leave or else they will stay. They are without a problem there.”
‘Beast’
The Colombia international was the club’s record signing in 2017 when Tottenham – then under Mauricio Pochettino – spent £42 million on him.
He really isn’t a bad player and Pochettino later referred to the centre-back as a ‘beast‘.
But his form dipped toward the end of the Argentine’s reign in North London, and he never really got going under Jose Mourinho, it has to be said.
However, with Nuno Espirito Santo in the hot seat at Hotspur Way now, it’ll be fascinating to see whether he can get any more out of the South American than his two predecessors.
