Harvey Barnes has been in excellent form for Leicester City this season, netting eight goals so far in the league this term, and it’s not at all surprising to hear that he’s attracting interest from other clubs.
One of those clubs is reportedly Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s fair to say that Barnes could be the perfect replacement for Heung-Min Son as the South Korean seems to be on the decline.
Like Son, Barnes is incredibly fast and loves to get in behind defenders. His two-footedness makes him a constant threat, and he’s always looking to find the most direct route to goal.

In many ways, Barnes is at the stage of his career that Son was a few years ago before he fully refined his finishing and became a Golden Boot winner. If Barnes could emulate Son and discover that finishing touch with the right coaching, he could be one of the Premier League’s top goalscoring threats.
If Barnes were to join Spurs, he would work perfectly with Harry Kane. His smart runs would combine beautifully with Kane’s ability to pass from deep, and the two could form a devastating partnership – a la Kane and Son.
Barnes knows how good Kane can be too. He’s been full of praise for the England captain in the past, stating that he’s always the first name in his fantasy team.
Son has, of course, been the perfect foil to Kane in recent years, but given his lack of goalscoring return this season, it may finally be time for Spurs to consider replacing him, and Barnes would be a like-for-like swap.
If Barnes can continue to improve and make that next step up, he could be the perfect player to take Spurs into their next era, potentially a post-Son era.
