Michael Owen has suggested that Harry Kane would be ‘frustrated’ with the defensive approach of Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte.
On Sunday, during Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, the 29-year-old was the only out-and-out attacker selected in the starting XI.
Ivan Perisic was a wily winger during his prime years, but under Conte at Inter Milan and now at Tottenham, he has been deployed in a more defensive role.

But the Croatian star was the one tasked to play a more attacking role yesterday, alongside Kane, which just goes to show what the Englishman has to work with.
Kane must be watching Erling Haaland over at Manchester City with absolute envy because, whilst he has the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden feeding him for fun.
Over the weekend, Kane had to contend with Emerson Royal, Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Perisic to supply him, which is a gulf in quality.
Nonetheless, former England international Owen shared his thoughts on Kane playing in Conte’s system, as he told Premier League Productions (06/11/22 at 6:50 pm).
“If you play in this Tottenham team,” said Owen. “I look at it and think ‘I would be so frustrated if I was Harry Kane, a lot of the time’.
“He is dropping off. He is 25 yards out during the game and making tackles 25 yards out from his own box. Wouldn’t you be a bit frustrated playing as a centre-forward because you know this team has so much more to give?”

KULUSEVSKI RETURN A BOOST
Well, as Spurs suffered another defeat in the Premier League, one big positive to come from the game was the return of Dejan Kulusevski.
Within minutes of the Sweden international entering the field, he was linking up with Kane and feeding him for his 11th Premier League goal in 14 games.
If it wasn’t for a certain Haaland sitting on a crazy 18 goals from 12 league games, then those Kane numbers would probably be spoken about a lot more.
