Pablo Fornals shared on his Instagram story that Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez is one of his ‘childhood idols’.

On Friday night, West Ham recorded a 2-1 win against Leeds, with Fornals starting the encounter and Hernandez being an unused substitute following his return from injury.

The 35-year-old technician has had a stop-start to the Premier League season because of injuries, but that doesn’t hide away from the fact that he is a popular figure with the Leeds faithful.

But it seems as though he has another fan in East London in the form of Fornals, who posted a picture of himself and Hernandez on his Instagram story with the following caption:

‘When you play against one of your childhood idols’.

Both Hernandez and Fornals are players of similar ilk, with the 35-year-old Leeds playmaker eleven years older than the £24 million West Ham player [BBC Sport].

The duo came through the same academy system back in their homeland of Spain – CD Castellon – which perhaps explains how Fornals would have seen his counterpart thrive ahead of him as he was coming through the ranks himself.

Leeds fans will completely understand why Fornals is such a big fan of the player because they have seen the magic in Hernandez’s feet work wonders over the years.

But given that he is coming towards the end of his career, they’ll be hoping he can provide some more magic moments before he waves goodbye.
