Everton’s hopes of recouping £24 million for Moise Kean have hit the buffers with Calciomercato reporting that the Premier League loanee wants to leave Serie A giants Juventus.
There are certainly similarities between the careers of Kean and Renato Sanches.
Both exploded onto the scene as teenagers, breaking records at international level before their 20th birthdays. They then secured big-money moves abroad before flopping in England and kick-starting their careers in France.
But while former Swansea City misfit Sanches continues to go from strength-to-strength at Lille, Kean’s own redemption arc appears to have gone somewhat awry.
Does Moise Kean still a future at Everton?
The youngest goalscorer for the Italian national team in six decades hit the net 17 times on loan at Paris Saint-Germain in 2020/21. But, since returning to former employers Juventus last summer, Kean has struggled in familiar surroundings.
He’s scored just five goals in 24 games. And following the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina, game-time is going to get a whole lot harder to come by under Max Allegri.
“Kean is useless,” Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri said after Juventus lost to Inter Milan in January’s Supercoppa Italiana final.

“He could probably start for someone like Spezia or another team that’s fighting relegation. That’s his level.”
A damning indictment of a man Everton paid £27 million for when he was 19.
The Toffees had hoped to recoup much of their 2019 investment. Kean re-joined Juve on loan, with an obligation to buy for £24 million if certain conditions were met (Sky Sports).
According to Calciomercato, however, Kean now wants to break that agreement. It seems Juventus are on the same wavelength. Cancelling Kean’s deal won’t be straighforward, however. A suddenly cash-strapped Everton are in no mood to be charitable.
Corriere dello Sport believe that Juventus have already decided on a replacement for Kean; Sassuolo poacher Giacomo Raspadori.
