Arsenal are flying at the moment, and it’s not just at the Emirates where things are going well for Mikel Arteta’s players.

Indeed, the Gunners have a number of players out on loan at the moment, and they’re shining too.

Folarin Balogun has become one of the best strikers in France, Charlie Patino has been excellent at Blackpool, while Nuno Tavares has been shining at Marseille.

However, while those three have been making the most headlines, another player has quietly been brilliant in the EFL, Auston Trusty.

The 24-year-old American joined the Blues this summer on loan, and he’s immediately become a fan favourite for his outstanding defensive showings.

However, this weekend it was at the other end of the pitch where Trusty was shining, as he netted a brace for John Eustace’s side as Birmingham beat Bristol City 3-0.

Trusty’s performance was even enough to earn himself a place in the EFL Team of the Week.

Trusty more than deserved his spot in this defence after scoring twice and keeping a clean sheet.

The American is more than proving his worth in English football, and while the Championship isn’t quite the same standard that Arsenal are looking for, we mustn’t forget that Ben White was a Championship player just 12 months before he joined the Gunners for £50m.

Now, we’re not saying that Trusty will go through that same development process, but he is shining for Birmingham and could end up being a rather decent rotation option for Arsenal in the next year or two.

Trusty is certainly a player to keep an eye on in the Championship and while his Arsenal chance hasn’t come yet, he’s giving Mikel Arteta something to ponder.
