Arsenal target Emiliano Buendia was left out of Argentina’s squad last night, as the Gunners’ interest intensified.
The Sun say that Arsenal and Aston Villa have submitted a bid for the Norwich City playmaker worth around £30 million.
Buendia is currently away on international duty, but as the speculation mounted he was not included in Argentina’s squad for their game against Chile, which finished as a 1-1 draw.
Whether that decision from Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni had anything to do with a transfer is not yet clear.
However, the call to omit him adds an extra layer of interest after reports of Arsenal’s bid.
It may signal that a move is edging closer, although it is felt that Arsenal haven’t yet met Norwich’s price-tag for the attacking midfielder.
Clever addition
If Arsenal were to sign Buendia he would be a valuable addition to their squad.

Mikel Arteta’s side seem to have made signing a playmaker one of their top priorities and Buendia as an attractive option.
He was one of the shining lights in the Championship, and looks ready for a big step up now.
Arsenal’s bid for Buendia may also suggest that Martin Odegaard won’t be coming back, as it appears the Norwegian was initially Arteta’s first choice for the number 10 role, if a deal could have been done with Real Madrid.
